On Monday, we left just after 6am, lost an hour as we went through another time zone and managed to get all the way into New Brunswick. The information centre was really good and we got everything we needed including free drinking water. Unfortunately they had had really bad weather and parts of the grounds around the centre were still waterlogged! The one lady said she had been working there for over 15 years and had never seen the place under water before! It had been a long day - 386 miles, the most we´ve ever driven in a day!

On Tuesday, we went to the waterfalls for which the town Grand Falls is named and they were quite impressive, due to all the rainfall they had had recently. Even the boat tours were cancelled due to the amount of water! Apparently 9/10ths of the amount of water at Niagara Falls, comes over Grand Falls! After a lovely walk along the river and falls we went to a camp ground to spend the rest of the day doing our washing and hanging it all out to dry.

Grand Falls.

On Wednesday, after Kirsten had soaked herself filling up our water tank (you´d think she knew how to do it by now!!) we drove across the worlds longest covered bridge (twice!) and then went to see the worlds largest axe.

Worlds longest covered bridge in Hartland.

On Thursday, we drove to Fredericton, New Brunswicks capital, and it took us ages (and a lot of petrol!) to find the car park that the tourist info place had told us about. Then we got told to move otherwise we would get a ticket! Not a very nice welcome! We made up for it by using discount vouchers from the tourist info centre to buy some fresh bread and to have cheesecake and coffee. Then we went to do some shopping but when we got to the cashier we found out that only businesses were allowed to shop here and everything had to go back on the shelf! We´d been congratulating ourselves on finding a really cheap supermarket!!

On Friday we drove to a lovely fishing village called St. Andrews. We wanted to go whale watching but there weren´t any humpbacks around at the moment. So we walked around the village.

On Saturday it rained all day. We just drove for 45 minutes in the really heavy rain and fog and stopped at "Oceanview campground", only there was no view, just fog and rain! Later that evening, lightening struck the RV parked next to us with a loud bang and an ominous buzzing noise afterwards, as if all the electrical systems were being burned out! Fortunately, we´d switched our computer and heater off just in case.

On Sunday we stayed for another day at the campground to enjoy the view - today we could see the ocean! And we went for a walk along the rocky seafront and then went for fish and chips! We also joined an RV club called Passport America where you can stay for half price at certain campgrounds and got a really thick book which listed all the campsites throughout Canada, US and Mexico that accept the pass. We signed up for three years right away, knowing we would get our money back within a few weeks.
