On Monday, we did a short walk up to Lupin Falls and then drove to the campground in the park and found a spot for the night. It cost $14 and there weren't any hook ups but it was easier to stay there than to have to drive out of the park and find a spot for the night and then drive back in again the next day.

After a late lunch we walked from the campground to do two other short walks nearby - a total of 3 miles (5km). On the way back we stopped and chatted to the campground hosts - Udo from Germany originally but who has lived in Canada for thirty years, and his Canadian wife Meriel. We ended up chatting until 10pm and had to borrow a torch to get back to Winnie as it was pitch black!

On Tuesday, we said goodbye to Meriel and then went for a 2 hour forest walk to upper Myra Falls. As we were driving out, we got flagged down by Udo who works at the mine just on the border of the park.

On the way out of the park we had intended to do another short trail but it was closed due to a collapsed bridge. So we decided to head back towards Campbell River. It started raining as we set off and the rain just got heavier and heavier. At 5pm we just pulled up onto the side of the road for the night. It carried on raining for most of the night.

On Wednesday, the sun came out again and we drove into Campbell River. We went to Canadian tyre to get some advice about the difficulty Winnie is having starting. We only really had a problem once, about 2 weeks ago, where it took us a long time to get him started. Since then, he's started but we can tell the difference and we know that the engine isn't turning over as quickly or as lively as it normally does.

It is probably the starter motor but there is no way of knowing until the motor doesn't start at all. At least we have a back battery so we can jump start. We're just going to have to wait until the starter motor packs up and then get a new one!

For the next two nights we stayed at a campground and Kirsten managed to get all the photos done for the website and Helen managed to get up to date with the writing.

On Friday, after cleaning Winnie up we drove back to Courtenay to stay with our friends again for the next few nights. Saturday and Sunday were taken up with the website and cleaning Winnie etc.
