On Monday, Helen made the mistake of going in search of a massage. After walking for a few miles she found one for the right price but then got
painfully pummelled to death for an hour!! She ached for days afterwards! No more massages for her!
On Tuesday, we caught a bus outside the campground and went into old Mazatlan which is the traditional centre and dates from the 19th century.
From the 1970s, a long stretch of modern hotels and tourist facilities have spread north along the coast. But the old centre is still colonial
and has been restored.
We wandered around the streets and plazas, had a look at the cathedral from the outside because it was closed and took a look at the restored
theatre. Then we walked 8 miles along the sea front all the way back to the campground. On the way we went into Blockbuster and rented out DVDs
to watch.
That evening we watched "Stepmom" with Susan Sarandon and Julia Roberts. Afterwards we watched a few scenes in Spanish and then Portuguese and
laughed at the voices of the stars! They sounded terrible!
On Wednesday, whilst Helen worked on the website, Kirsten did something really unusual .... she went for a run!! The first time since we've had
Winnie. Then it was her turn to ache for days afterwards!! Our evening entertainment was "Panic Room" starring Jodie Foster.
On Thursday, our neighbours knocked on the door. Brigitte and John are retired and have been travelling around the US, Canada and Mexico for 4
years in their motorhome which they ship back every year to Germany for a few weeks or months before shipping it back over for another year of
travelling.
They had tried to get their digital photos downloaded onto a CD but were worried that not all the photos were on the CD. So Kirsten spent a couple
of hours sorting it out for them. It turned out that not all of the photos were on the CD so it was a good job they hadn't deleted them from the
chip! We went over and joined them for coffee afterwards and some great canteloupe melon.
On Friday, Kirsten went for a long walk on the beach and Helen worked on the computer. In the afternoon, there was a performance at the campsite
given by orphans looked after by the Salvation Army. They danced in costumes they had made themselves and their ages ranged from 5 to 16. They
were busy throughout December, giving performances and raising money towards their yearly upkeep and education. That evening, a large nightclub
played very loud music until 2am so we couldn't get to sleep until afterwards.
On Saturday, we walked back down to Blockbuster to return DVDs and rent out some more. We picked up some shopping on the way back and Kirsten baked
a cake. We whipped up some cream to go with it!! That evening we watched "7 years in Tibet" with Brad Pitt.
On Sunday, we swopped some books that we had read for others and worked on the computer. Another RV parked next to us and we realised it was Cathy
who we had met almost 2 years ago in Baja California!! It's a small world.
Kirsten went to take photos of the sunset and came back with 2 people she had met who will be going to Germany next summer but didn't realise that
they may have problems getting accommodation in Munich due to the World Cup. So we gave them info on the schedule that we had downloaded from the
internet.
Our evening entertainment was "Love actually" - a very funny film with lots of stars (Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Billy Bob Thornton
and various TV stars from England.
