The only thing Winnie needed was a new compressor for the air conditioning. We spent two days with Carmen, driving through heavy traffic, going to lots of different places hunting for one.

On Wednesday, Kirsten nearly killed us all! She was driving Carmen's truck and Carmen was giving directions. Kirsten had to change lanes but didn't notice that the traffic light had changed to red! There was a huge squeal of brakes and a cloud of burnt rubber as we tried to get into the boot of the car in front!! Fortunately Kirsten stopped with a few millimetres to spare!

What she didn't realise was that the truck had stalled. So when the light changed to green, we crawled along whilst Kirsten was trying to work out what the problem was and Carmen was shouting at her to stop (with an automatic you have to stop, put it into park or neutral before you can turn the ignition back on!). But the brakes didn't work because we were still in Drive! What a performance!! We laughed a lot but it was more through nerves and a tremendous amount of relief that we had survived!

On Thursday we spent 9 hours searching for a compressor. One of the places we went to was owned by one of Carmen's cousins´ friends from 20 years ago! He insisted on driving us to a few places he thought we would find a compressor. He was talking so much to Carmen that he didn't see the car stop in front of us. Kirsten and I shouted from the back seat and we had another emergency stop!!

We came to the conclusion that air conditioning is dangerous to your health!!!

On Friday, we took all our stuff back to Winnie and Kirsten did some last minute changes to Dave's website. We arranged for Dave to send us a compressor next week to El Paso as he was going to America for supplies. We said goodbye to him but unforunately, couldn't say goodbye to Carmen because she had already gone into Guadalajara.

Before leaving, we had to do some shopping and then drove up to the market to exchange some of the software and DVDs we had bought. Then it took us nearly 2 hours to get through all the traffic and out onto the correct road.

We got to Lagos de Moreno just before 7pm when it was dark and parked at Soriana. But a friendly man said it wasn't safe to park there for the night and said we could park in front of his house which was only 300 metres away!

On Saturday we first had to do some repairs to our shoe rack which had come away from the wall. Then we drove into the town and spent 2 hours wandering around various churches and the plaza. We also got some fresh orange juice which we took with us in bags!

Then we drove further north towards San Luis Potosí and found a Pemex for the night where we watched one of the many DVDs we had downlaoded.

On Sunday we drove into San Luis Potosí and wandered around the town centre for a couple of hours. Because it was Sunday we found a parking spot very easily and we enjoyed looking around as it wasn't very crowded.

We drove out to find a campground but it was abandoned. So we continued along a very good road north and stopped to take photos as Winnie clocked up 100,000 miles!
