We flew over Manhattan again on the way back to the States and managed to get three month visas without any problem. After a four hour flight to
Denver we started struggling with all our luggage. We'd stocked up on food, tissues, toothpaste etc as we normally do, but this time we were also
bringing a new bed system with us.
We contemplated taking a taxi from Denver airport until we found out that it would cost $65. So we dragged all our luggage to the bus. We had to
change busses and ended up waiting at the wrong bus stop. So when we saw our bus coming and parking across the road, Kirsten sprinted over to ask.
The bus driver even came over and helped us with our luggage! Then he didn't even charge us for the ride!
The driver helped us unload and then we had about 500 metres, across a busy junction to get to Winnie. Fortunately there was a shopping trolley at
the bus stop where we got off! So we loaded everything up and looked like two homeless bag ladies pushing all our luggage back to Winnie.
We were really happy to see him and fortunately he was alright. Like an oven inside, but nothing amiss. We just shoved our bags inside, took the
trolley back and did some shopping, and then went to bed exhausted at 9pm.
The next day, Helen checked out the oil, air filter, batteries etc whilst Kirsten started sorting out a few of the cupboards. We went to see Dan
in the office - we'd already paid for 2 months and rang up from Germany to say that we wouldn't be flying back until the 9th August which was three
days over the 2 months we had paid for but he didn't charge us any extra.
We spent a few hours dumping, filling up the water tanks, getting propane and spending a huge amount of money at Wal-mart before heading north to
Boulder. We had a quick look around the student town and then drove further into the mountains and stopped at Roosevelt National Forest.
We spent the next two days sorting out all the cupboards, emptying our bags and putting together the new bed system which will provide air
underneath the mattress and make the mattress a lot more comfortable.
On Sunday we drove into Estes Park and phoned Judy who was really looking forward to seeing us again. We did some shopping at Safeway and saw
lots of elks on the car park - maybe they were trying to get their free Safeway card!
Afterwards we drove over to Judy's and plugged in. Judy had left us a note saying "Welcome Home" - really sweet! We chatted fo about 2 hours to
catch up on everything that had happened over the last two months.
