Things were really quiet this week without the girls and we missed having them around. There were 13 guests and most of the guides had also gone away for the week. This left the two of us and one guide to do the shore lunches. Helen and Kirsten ended up battering the fish, frying it, as well as setting everything up for shore lunch and serving! We had Joel with us to filet the fish and he had a really hard job on the Monday because the fish knives were too blunt. He had to borrow one of the guests knives! But the three of us worked well together and we had a lot of fun with the guests.

Shorelunch.

On Tuesday, Kirsten broke the zip on her trousers on the way to shore lunch and so she had to cover it up with her shirt! The next problem was that she only had two pairs of trousers so they had to be mended pretty quick!

By Wednesday, we had got back into the routine of doing the cabins as well as the kitchen work. On Thursday, Lisa phoned up and she was told to come back on the bus on Sunday. The owners wife told us that she didn´t expect to hear from Jess. But a few hours later, Jess also phoned up to find out when she should return and was also told to come back on Sunday. The owners wife didn´t seem to be in a very good mood!

Overnight the rain kept us awake and it carried on raining throughout Friday, so we had shore lunch inside. We decided to bake the fish in foil parcels as some of the guests wanted to try it. It went down really well and so did Kirstens potato patties (mashed potato, rolled into balls, coated in egg, flour and paprika and fried).

On Saturday, the owners wife was half an hour late and said that the alarm clock hadn´t gone off! That day, we used the extra time we had to clean all the cabins a lot more thoroughly than we normally have the time for and then welcomed our new guests. Four of them were going off on a wilderness fishing trip - taking the boats through several connecting lakes and waterways and camping out for 3 nights. The owner caused his wife a problem, because all of a sudden he came up with a list of shopping he needed for the trip by Monday!

On Sunday, during breakfast preparation, Helen told Kirsten that at least one of the girls was not on the bus. Sure enough, at 7-30 am Lisa phoned to say that she had had an accident and knocked herself out on a tree the night before! She hadn´t been released from hospital until 7-30 am and the bus had already left half an hour ago! It sounded like she´d really given her head a whack, but we never did find out how she came to run into a tree in the first place!

Instead of having a break, Helen started her "hoovering action" which she´d been planning for a few weeks now, in the main lodge. There were a few cobwebs getting on her nerves! In the afternoon we were happy to see Jess back and wanted to know all about her holiday!
