During the next week we went on a day tour to Quadra Island with Kirsten and the three children and Heide. We went
across on a short ferry ride and then hunted for the beach. We gave up after a while and went to a local deli and
bought lunch which we sat and ate in one of the parks. Then we went for a walk by the lighthouse. After the ferry
back we were treated to huge ice creams on the pier and then went back to Kirstens where we helped put the horses
away for the night - this included shovelling up horse poo!!
We also got introduced to a new version of dominoes that we got hooked on and ended up buying for ourselves! The idea
is, not only to win but to keep your points down to a minimum. In one of the games Helen did neither!!
On Thursday we fetched Winnie to bring back to Heide and Dieters. Unfortunately, just after leaving Kirstens, we
realised we had a flat tyre that took us 40 minutes to pump up with our foot pump!
We parked up at Heide and Dieters for 4 nights and on Friday, we went around various places to find out whether it
was possible to get new linoleum into Winnie instead of carpet. After a few days, we realised that linoleum would
have to be laid on a hard surface, i.e. directly onto the original floor. This meant having a lot less insulation
causing the noise level to rise and would also make Winnie colder. The cost of new carpet was beyond our budget. So
after all that effort we decided to keep the carpet we have after all! Much ado about nothing!!
On Saturday, we unpacked our bags and put everything away in Winnie and got him tidied up. On Sunday, we met some of
Heide and Dieter's friends who stayed for the night and we played dominoes with them.
