On Boxing Day we watched our last DVD whilst eating pizza. Almost like being in the cinema! Then we walked down to Blockbuster to return all of the DVDs and get our deposit back. Afterwards we worked on the computer, trying to get the website up to date.

Unfortunately, we were kept awake again until 2am by the loud music. So, on Tuesday, we decided to extend for another night to try and get everything done and were hoping that we could get more sleep. We did more work on the computer, started cleaning up Winnie, and baked some cakes for the freezer. The music started up again at 10pm and we didn't get to sleep until after 2-30am. But we couldn't stay in Mazatlán any longer as we wanted to move on. Otherwise we'd never make it very far and there is a lot to see.

So, on Wednesday, we got everything clean and ready to move and were sweating so much that we had to shower before we left. We finally got back on the road at 1-30pm, got some more pesos, did some shopping and got propane on the way out of Mazatlán.

We only had to drive 90 miles (155km) to our next stop at Teacapan, but we only just made it before the sun went down. We drove to a beach that was supposed to be only 50 pesos as a one-off toll. But when we got there, we found out it was 70 pesos per night. It was dark by the time we found this out and so we decided to stay for the night.

On Thursday, we walked along the beach lined with palm trees to check out RV parks and how much they cost, and their facilities etc and chatted to lots of people as we went. It turned out that the place where we were was the cheapest anyway. At least there is somewhere to get water and a dump station. But we will have to move at some point, because there is no electricity and our batteries won't last very long.

On Friday Don, Yvonne, Heidi and Jacques from a full hook up campground further along the beach, came over to invite anyone who wanted to go along, to a pot luck New Years Eve party at their campground at 2pm tomorrow. We had to go and translate the invitation into German for Agnes who is on our campground and doesn't speak English. Her husband Helmut, who speaks English, was out fishing at the time.

In the afternoon, we walked to a local bakery and ate some cakes that were still warm from the oven and waited for the bread rolls to be baked. We dropped off some rolls for Heidi and Jacques and then chatted to Don and Yvonne for a couple of hours. They gave us some gherkins that we could use for the potato salad we wanted to make for the pot luck for tomorrow.

We walked back to Winnie and dropped off some more bread rolls to other campers. We were the delivery service for the day!! Later we prepared the potato salad and put it into 3 bowls to take tomorrow.

At 1-45pm we got our stools, drinks and salad and walked over with Agnes and Helmut for the pot luck. There were quite a few people there, and there was also a barbecue. There was quite a lot to eat and we chatted to everyone for about 3 hours and then walked back before it got dark.

Then we sat around a camp fire with Agnes and Helmut for a while and found out that we had parked next to them last Christmas in New Orleans!!! We didn't realise because Kirsten had only spoken a few words to Helmut as it was too cold to stay outside, and she didn't recognise him because he was so wrapped up in winter gear! It's a small world!

Most of the other people from our campground had got another fire started so we went to join them. By 8pm the first people started to leave and by 9-30pm there was just us and Agnes and Helmut left! Somehow we managed to stay up until midnight and did a countdown in German! Then we raised our glasses of lemonade in celebration!! When we got back to Winnie we had to dry our hair off because it was soaked through from the humidity!!

On Sunday, we went for a 2 hour walk along the beach northwards and saw how lots of palm trees have fallen, as the coastline is being eroded by the waves. Apparently, over the years, the coastline has changed quite dramatically. In fact, on of the other campers was asked if he wanted to buy prime beach front land 15 years ago and that land is now way out in the bay and under water!!

That night we had to use candles for the first time as our batteries were getting too low. We had to light quite a few to get enough light to read!!
