On Monday, Kirsten went snorkelling and then we did the washing up and got ready to drive. We left at 2-45pm and drove further south along the
coast. We drove to Tenacatita and found a lovely little beach for $3 per night. The only draw back is the short steep and rough, rutted road to get over the hill to the beach. We made it over but we weren't sure that we would
get back!! We found a spot and parked up.
Originally, we were only going to stay for 2 or 3 nights because we want to get down south to see the butterflies and we need to get there by the
end of February. Plus we wanted to see as much as possible of the coast on the way down. But we liked Tenacatita so much that we stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed the quiet peacefulness. The sunsets were also good and Kirsten took
advantage of the good snorkelling conditions.
We walked into the village and spent a few hours talking to Oliver and Leese from Canada who have been travelling for 13 years. We had a lot to
talk about! Unfortunately, we were really low on propane and ended up not cooking for the last two days. But then we had to leave, otherwise our fridge
wouldn't work.
To get back up the hill, we had to rebuild the road using our wood blocks and various stones we could find. It took us 45 minutes and then Winnie
had to go full speed ahead to get up the hill.
We only had to drive a few miles south to get propane. Then we got drinking water and found a very smelly dump that some other RVers had told us
about so that we could empty our tanks.
We drove to a lovely little town called Barra de Navidad and parked up in the street that runs parallel to the beach. We put our solar shower out
because, after the smelly dump, we felt riffy. We hung the shower outside and Kirsten went out for a shower in her bikini - well we are parked
on street! When Helen went out for her shower, she had just started to wash her hair when a wedding group started walking by!!
On Sunday, we spent the whole day spring cleaning and had another shower in the street afterwards. No wedding this time! Then we went out for
Pozole, which is a traditional corn soup and very tasty. It was also very cheap!
